Hold What Matters
International marriages can bring unique joy and unique challenges. One of the greatest obstacles these couples face is the immigration process, where they’re required to prove their love for government approval. HP Printers helps these couples tell their stories and remind them of what they’re really fighting for.

My Role
They say “write what you know”, so I did. “Hold What Matters” was inspired by my journey with my husband as we got married and applied for his green card. The process was confusing and stressful, and sometimes roadblocks caused a strain on our relationship, but the “marriage evidence” section helped us reflect on our relationship and remind us of the love we have for each other and why we chose to go through the process in the first place. There are so many misconceptions about immigration that I wanted to tell my story. While crafting this piece, I worked with team members who each had their own experience with immigration. Because of my passion for the project, I played a part in practically each step of its creation, from writing, to art, to directing, to editing and sound notes. It was so cool to craft a piece that is so personally meaningful and vulnerable.
